Speer's patented Hot-Cor process fuses the bullet jacket to the core. As a result, the core of a Hot-Cor bullet will not slip on impact. Unlike some bullets, which are manufactured simply by forcing a cold, sometimes lubricated slug into a jacket. Speer fills the copper jacket with 825° molten lead, creating a fused bond that is nearly impossible to separate.
